Following an intensive month of community outreach and two months of practical classes, we look back at a quarter of sharing, learning, and social inclusion that far exceeded all expectations.

A Winning Field Strategy and Record-Breaking Turnout

The project spanned a total period of three months. The month of January 2026 was fully dedicated to program promotion, logistical organization, and participant registration. This meticulous preparatory phase paid off handsomely: facing a record-breaking wave of registrations, the enthusiasm of the young girls and women from the Kennedy 1 and 2 neighborhoods clearly demonstrated their strong determination to take charge of their economic future.

As a result, between February and March 2026, the practical workshops were able to kick off and run at a dynamic pace, driving real change.

A Strong International Partnership at the Heart of the Torino-Daloa Twinship

This program operates within the general framework of the historic twinning agreement between the municipalities of Torino and Daloa. More specifically, these recent activities are part of the project titled: « Turin – Daloa: Institutional Strengthening of Youth, Education, and Equal Opportunity Policies ». This initiative aims to sustain the exchange of expertise in urban management, social development, and inclusion for younger generations.

This exemplary synergy is funded by the City of Turin and directly coordinated by its International Cooperation Bureau.

At the center of this framework, the Turin-based association Panafricando-APS, a key partner, plays a fundamental role: it ensures the institutional and operational link between both municipalities, while coordinating the various partner projects taking place on the ground. Thanks to this robust architecture, the Espérance de Vie association was able to drive these sessions with maximum efficiency.

Three Practical Pillars for Capacity Building

The general objective was to provide practical and immediately applicable tools to the young girls and women of Daloa’s Kennedy 1 and 2 neighborhoods to foster their independence. During the two months of intensive courses, the workshops focused on three field-oriented disciplines:

1. Literacy: Opening the Doors to Independence

For 50 young girls and women, this training marked a true turning point. Learning to read and write now enables them to better manage their daily activities, build self-confidence, and integrate more easily into the social and economic fabric.

2. Pastry Making: Creating Income-Generating Opportunities

The group dedicated to pastry making explored the world of baking and confectionery. From basic techniques to the secrets of doughs and biscuits, these 50 participants now possess the necessary skills to launch small-scale, neighborhood micro-businesses.

3. Introduction to Urban Agriculture: Growing and Producing Locally

Innovating with available space: that was the challenge of the agricultural workshop. 50 beneficiaries were trained to cultivate small plots of land near their homes. This urban gardening module not only boosts household food security but also paves the way for sustainable subsistence farming.

Skills Validation: Given the short-term nature of these workshops (two months of intensive practice), participants did not receive formal multi-year certificates, but were awarded official training attendance certificates (attestations de formation), validating their newly acquired practical skills.

A Promising Outlook for the Future

This first quarter of 2026 closes on an extremely positive note. Beyond the technical skills acquired, a genuine community dynamic has flourished across the Kennedy 1 and 2 neighborhoods.

The Espérance de Vie association wishes to express its deepest gratitude to the City of Turin and its International Cooperation Bureau, as well as to the Panafricando-APS association for its outstanding support and coordination. Heartfelt thanks also go out to the trainers and participants for their exemplary commitment. Together, we are turning international cooperation into concrete, lasting realities on the ground.

The journey continues!
